Cleveland Niblick Short Game Hybrid
Product Details
Product Description
ZIP GROOVES(TM) - OVERVIEW
This breakthrough technology features consistent milling of each groove to maximum conforming dimensions. The absolute integrity of these grooves is maintained by the application of a proprietary coating to each groove for protection during the face sandblasting process. The resulting Zip Grooves(TM) are pristine, shiny and Cleveland® Golf's biggest, most precisely milled grooves ever.
ZIP GROOVES(TM)
The technology of Zip Grooves creates a larger groove volume which channels more debris than traditional grooves to improve contact with the ball. This milling optimizes spin on each and every shot - making Zip Grooves perfect for players that expect optimal spin and distance control.
GELBACK(TM) TECHNOLOGY - NIBLICK
Gelback, Cleveland Golf's lightweight, visco-elastic, vibration-damping material, is placed directly behind the hitting area of the clubface in the back cavity. Gelback is vibration-tuned to remove unwanted vibration on mis-hits while still allowing the player necessary feedback from the clubhead for a soft yet responsive feel.

This thing ain't just a chipper
Pros:Terrific for Chipping. Get's the ball rolling quickly. Surprisingly effective on approach shots. Terrific for getting out of trouble around the green. Even effective out of low lipped bunkers.
Cons:None that I can think of.

Nice solid club

Pros:
Good from 100mt & In, and for chip & run.
Cons:
Not ideal for pitching IMO.
Rating:
The Niblick is solid from 100mt in, stop & drop control is simply fantastic.
Also nice for the greenside chip & run.
Pitching is a bit hot & cold, but that might just be the user & not the club.

Bought this for chipping and recovery shots. Never even crossed my mind I could use it for approach shots or short par 3's. Any tee shot/approach under 130 yards I'm usually pulling the Niblick out of the bag. On chips during scrambles I'm always closest to the hole, and I'll usually be closest on short par 3's. Awesome club. I'll be getting a higher lofted one this fall if the rumors are true.

I bought the Niblick the first week it came out. Let's just say if you leave yourself short sided a good bit, this club is not for you. If you want something that's stupid easy to hit and have a lot of longish chip shots, pick one up.
I had the 42 for a little while and it started off great. Have you every wanted to hit that frozen rope, low spinning wedge shot but don't know how? It's a piece of cake with this club and great from 80 to 110 yds (for me). Can you hit a similar shot with some practice and a wedge? Sure...
Now on longer chips/pitch shots, this thing was good too. With a firmer strike, you could get a lot of bite. As you get closer to the green, the problem arises.... There's just too much rollout. If you're short sided, forget about it and pull out a true wedge.
I found myself almost having to force myself into situations to play this club. I was really no more accurate on full swings than my gap wedge and my trusty 58 worked better around most greens (mr short side here). In the end, I returned it.
** I must note that I probably will be trying the 49 and 56 versions of this club when they come out. There was definite potential, it just didn't find a spot in my bag.

Jury's still out

Pros:
Very easy to hit.
Ball gets up and goes straight
Cons:
None, yet

Have only used it a few times. This club (42*) is very easy to chip with. Ball gets up very easily. If your chips get bladed or chunked, this club will help out very well. I bought this for 30 yards and in, only. Have even gotten it close to pin with very short 5 yard chip. Just not sure if a regular chipping club would have given me the same results for a lot less money?
