Simply put, Callaway Golf engineers have re-invented tour golf ball performance. The new Tour ix Golf Ball is the most technologically advanced and longest tour ball you've ever played. The breakthrough in distance comes from innovative 4-piece inertia technology. 4 pieces, 2 cores, 1 unbeatable ball.

Callaway Tour ix Golf Balls feature:
  • Thermoset urethane cover provides superior feel and short-game spin for excellent greenside control
  • High density mantle layer works with the core to produce high ball speed
  • Moves more weight away from the center to increase MOI and reduce driver spin to maximize distance
  • Dual core construction enables the use of a softer inner core that produces better feel while maintaining the same distance of a ball with a much firmer feel
  • Tungsten-infused outer core redistributes weight away from the center to increase MOI, reducing spin off the driver for longer and straighter shots
  • Redefined HEX Aerodynamics reduces drag even further for longer and more stable ball flight
  • Sub-HEX design features six deep hexagon depressions for a penetrating, tour-type trajectory
  • Available in: Low - #1 thru #4 numbered golf balls ? High - #5 thru #8 numbered golf balls

LONGEST ball I've yet to hit! Control and distance!! YEs!!
Pros:LONG off the tee. Spins just the right amount for me off the irons. Cons:
Could be a tad hard for some, but I think it's perfect for me.

LONGEST ball I've yet to hit! Control and distance!! YEs!!

by golfware on August 28, 2009

Pros:
LONG off the tee. Spins just the right amount for me off the irons.

Cons:
Could be a tad hard for some, but I think it's perfect for me.

Okay, the Callaway Tour iX is easily the LONGEST ball I've yet to hit. It's consistently the longest ball I've yet to hit, over and over again. Sure, I've hit LONG drives with the Pro V1X, Taylor Made TP Black and Tour i. But time after time, the Tour IX just does it for me. Off the driver, it provides low spin and a very penetrating ballflight for me that is unaffected by the wind. Off the irons, I can stick greens from even 200 yards out with no effort. I don't spin them back, which is nice. Off the wedges, just provides great control for pitches and chips and out of the bunkers. It's harder than the Tour I, but I love it.

Unmatched control distance and workability

Pros:

Feel is amazing along with distance.

Cons:

Get off the bandwagon of Titleist and try something new and dare I say BETTER? Is that blasphemy? The control with these balls is superb. I swear they stuck a computer in the ball to know which club is hitting it! I love the distance and feel off the tee but when I pull a wedge out I know I can do whatever I want with it! Just ask yourself this Titleist fans: If PHIL MICKELSON uses it shouldn't I give it a try?

Much better than past Callaway offerings

  by j0npeterson on October 25, 2009

Pros:

Perfect wind ball

Cons:

Some may find them clicky off the putter

Rating:

Pros

The Callaway Tour iX are very impressive. I found them to be head and shoulders better than past offerings. I was extremely impressed by the added distance off the tee... very close to pure-distance ball length, but with your typical premium feel.

They are the most durable premium I've found. I gave mine quite the beating... cart paths, trees, rocks and found very few scuffs. Full wedges didn't scuff the ball, but merely flaked the cover.

The Tour iX is incredibly stable... just stupid straight. I found it difficult to move one direction or another (it took some effort). It is hands down the best ball to play in the wind.

  • Very long off the tee
  • Very durable
  • Super stable -- the best wind ball available.
  • Price (routinely ~$30/dozen @ GPP Golf) -- That's a steal!

Cons

Some may find the ball slightly clicky off the putter. I found it to be acceptable with my gamer. Spin is also an issue -- I would not play it on a course with super firm greens. Those looking for more spin should look into the Tour i.

  • Clicky off the putter.
  • Spin. It won't spin like a top around the greens, but it behaves.

Tour iX - Great Premium Distance Oriented Ball

by bioman on November 02, 2009

Pros:

-Low spin off the driver and irons

-Good spin greenside

-Very Durable

-Good distance

Cons:

-Shorter than other premium distance balls

-Clickier off the putter, harder cover

Rating:

The Tour iX is a great all around ball.  It does everything well.  Really good distance off the driver, irons and wedges.  For a distance ball, it spins surprisingly well of the wedges.  Hard struck balls will spins back moderately, which is not common on these types of balls (ie. TP Red, One Tour D).  The ball feels heavier and harder than most, probbaly due to tungsten weighting.  So off the putter, it feels heavy and clickly, which some like and some don't.  With an odyssey putter it feels good.

Distance of driver is also very good, but other ones do go a bit farther including the TP Red and Tour D.  Irons are also a few yards shorter than those listed.  But distance is still far better the pure spin oriented balls (Tour i, One Tour, TP Black, Pro V1) by a good margin, while still maintaining good spin levels.

If you want a distance ball that spins well enough greenside, then this is it.  The Tour iX is a wonderful ball.

Tour ix

by monkeyboy on December 01, 2009

Pros:

Long, great in wind

Cons:

price, short game control, clicky off putter

Rating:

Great all around ball.  Only complaint would be around the greens where the ProV1 shines.  Great distance and durability, but I don't care for it off of the putter.  A bit clicky and the odd shaped dimples make me wonder if it is rolling true
