Tour performance ball with fantastic durability

by manbearpig on November 02, 2009
Pros:
High greenside Spin, Low Driver Spin, Super durable, butter soft off the putter
Cons:
Higher launch off driver, can be mushy off soft irons
Rating:
What a good golf ball the Z-Star is.
Driver:
Not the longest tour ball, but no slouch at the same time. The reduced driver spin makes it noticably straighter meaning those wild balls don't get away. Don't worry you can still work it. It's only downfall for me was its higher launching in this department.
Irons:
Here's where I'm torn. Long irons get off the ground and go. Short irons track and spin as much as you need. But the super soft feel of this ball at times mutes feedback as it tends to get a little mushy off short irons.
Pitching/Chipping:
Play it to hop and stop and it will. Roll out? Yes it does that too. Suck back a few feet - bingo. This is a short game miracle ball.
Putting:
This is where the Z-Star shines. Buttery soft off the face and a soid feel at the same time. It just feels right. It rolls extremely well and consistent.
Durability:
Really this is a tour ball? It just holds up to well. Couple rounds for sure.
Other balls tick the boxes of the negatives I've pointed out with this ball, but none tick as many possitive ones as the Z-Star does. This ball is quality and performance all in one. Anyone looking for a durable tour ball should look no further.

Srixon Z-Star

by lologolf on November 03, 2009
Pros:
-Soft feel
-Good green side spin
-Soft feel off the putter.
-Durable
-High ball flight
Cons:
-Not as long off the driver for me.
Rating:
Very good ball for me with the irons and around the green where you need that soft touch and spin. The ball seems to get up quickly both with the driver and irons which is not necessarily a bad thing if you are a low ball hitter. I like how it will hop and stop for with my wedges, and how good they feel off my irons. I was a little disappointed with the driver distance, not as long as some of the other balls that I have tried NXTR tour, v1x, etc.

This ball is amazing!!! I am able to generate a lot of spin using the Z-star and I do not lose distance.
I would highly recommend this ball to any golfer with a decent game

Decent ball, but for the price I could get something better

by gee2626 on November 18, 2009
Pros:
Good distance, good feel, overall a good ball
Cons:
It's good, but nothing about it is really great.
Rating:
The Srixon Z-Star is a decent golf ball. It has good feel, good distance, and good spin. However, nothing really amazed me with this ball. I guess I expected more from this ball, but it just didn't meet my expectations. For the same price, I would preferred the TM TP balls or the Callaway Tour i over the Srixon Z-Star.

Z star X My ball of choice!!!

by opus_mh on January 11, 2010
Pros:
Longest, Lowest spinning, lowest launching ball I have tested
Cons:
Too firm for the average player
Rating:
This ball was built for me. It is super low spin off the driver and still spins well around the green. The cover is super thin but seems to resist shearing as well as anything else on the market. This is the best wind ball period. I picked up ball speed and lowered my launch angle with this super firm core. This ball is the best high swing speed ball on the market for anyone trying to lower their spin numbers off the driver.

Durable, long, nice feel, and spins a ton!

by Guest on May 31, 2010
Pros:
Cover holds up better than outher tour balls I've played, spins great.
Cons:
Likes to get up in the wind.
Rating:
Finally had a chance to play the Z-Star a bit after trading a buddy three sleeves of the Callaway Tour IX for three sleeves of the Z-Star.
Off the tee, the ball feels nice. It's a bit soft but not mushy. Seemed to hold it's line pretty well too - went fairly straight, and didn't go way left when I over-drew a tee shot.
In the fairway, it had a great trajectory off my 3W, with a medium trajectory, and lots of roll out. With approach irons, I had the ball hop and stop four feet from the ball mark with a full 6i, and kick sideways with a full PW. Nice performance, and allows you to go hard at the pins.
Pitching is where it really shone though. I love the soft covers of the Callaway tour balss, and was surpised that the slightly harder feeling Z-Star bit just as well on pitches. Again, a great feeling of confidence when you go hard at the pin not worring it will release too easily.
All-in-all, one of the best tour balls I've played, and it still looked brand new, even after 9 holes.

Best on the market! SRIXON Z STAR

by Guest on June 01, 2010
Pros:
Long, soft, good greenside spin and feel and best of all, great off the putter!
Cons:
Honestly nothing at the moment.
Rating:
I'm sure I'm giving up a few yards compared to some of the "distance" tour balls, but the ZStar is everything I've ever wanted in a ball. Long, soft, and great spin when needed, and not too much when I don't. Tried the white and yellow, and both are VERY durable. I can use one ball for multiple rounds which is unheard of for me w/ other urethane premium balls. I always like the EEG core when Srixon started using it w/ the AD333 2 piece ball, so when they incorporated it into the Tour line, i couldn't wait to try these out. Without a doubt, this will be my ball going foward. Spun a couple wedges back 8ft...but not spinning them off greens like I have w/ ProV1 and

Pros:
-TONS OF SPIN, Bright cover (tour yellow)/(pure white), very soft feel
Cons:
NONE!!!!!
Rating:
*This ball is the best ball for the money, hands down! I get plenty of distance from the tee, and high consistent long iron shots. THEN THERE IS THE SHORT GAME! IF YOU PLAY PRO V'S, PENTAS, TOUR I(S) ect... STOP!!!... look no further for a ball that will finally give you that spin you always wanted!
*This ball feels very soft off the putter face, but not the dull (low compression) feel that most of the other Srixon balls have.
*THIS BALL LASTS!!!!!
with pro v's, pentas, tour i(s) two or three full smacks with a clean wedge and you have no cover on your ball. ZSTAR has the thinnest cover in the game, yet it is the most durable cover of any of the major tour quality balls!
-ONE HOP STOP ZSTAR TOUR YELLOW!
