Frogger Brush Pro: Good idea that is cheapened by iffy craftsmanship

Cons:

FRAGILE: HANDLE WITH CARE!
Rating:
The package (if purchased as such) comes as a nice combination of towel, brush, and retractor. These items look great on the bag and the idea itself is solid. However, the retractor is so cheaply made you have to handle it with great care. The casing itself is a very cheap plastic that comes apart if you allow the brush to snap back from a fully extended position. This happened to me within the first week of owning the product. I was able to wind the inner spring and string attached to the brush back inside the compartment, but if snapped open and broke for good the next round. I ordered a replacement part from a VERY snippy customer "service" rep who accused me of abusing the product. When I got the replacement retractor it cracked open during it's third round. I've been able to fix it by wrapping some tape around it.
In short, the thing works, but it's flimsily constructed. Handle with care and by all means, hold onto to the warranty information.

Poor Quality

Pros:
Cleans you clubs i guess
Cons:
Bulky brush, retractable clip is junk
Rating:
Brush is huge, only really bought it because it was retractable. Like the other review says it broke within a week or 2 of purchase. I wouldn't recommend this product.

Works as advertised

by Guest on February 11, 2010
Pros:
Does the job better than the junky brush you'd buy at K-Mart.
Cons:
If you're rough, the retractor may not last. The brush itself will be fine.
Rating:
I guess paying $15+ for a brush is a lot of money, so it better work. This does the job. The combination of brass and synthetic bristles gets the grooves clean quickly and efficiently. Having the brush attached to the outside of the bag with a retractor is a great idea and the convenience means you'll use the brush to get your clubs clean. I could see where the retractor may be flimsy- you can replace them with a more "robust" retractor at Staples or Office Max- look in the section where they have ID badges and similar items. I would not let the retractor stop me from purchasing an otherwise quality item. You can also buy a spike cleaner for your shoes as an option.

Works GREAT for a 3-4 rounds then POP Broken

by Guest on March 03, 2010
Pros:
convenient, nice aesthetic design, looks classy, works great when not broken
Cons:
THIS IS THE CHEAPEST BUILT LOWEST QUALITY BRUSH YOU CAN OVERPAY FOR.
Rating:
I say this is the WORST quality brush is because ive purchased TWO of these frogger brushes and BOTH times the retractor popped open and uncoiled itself. I have not been so lucky to be able to re-wind the coil to make it retract again, I cut off the string on one of my brushes and leave it in my bag pocket to clean (which sucks because it defeats the purpose of paying $17 for a brush to use it for 2 weeks at a time before you have to buy a new one), the other broken frogger is now sitting in a bucket that i use to clean my clubs with water. I will say it floats pretty well so thats a positive...WHEN your brush breaks you can use it as a club cleaner to leave in your water bucket.
I will say that I called customer service and they said I may have PULLED the cord out too much causing the retractor case to snap... I'm sorry but the string is very long when it is fully unwound, I would have to be about 5 feet away from my bag using my brush in order to fully extend it. They wouldnt hear it. it was my fault. So i decided to go and buy another one thinking it was a one off. AGAIN after about 2-3 weeks the retractor breaks.
I LOVED this brush... WHEN IT WORKED for the 2-3 weeks. It was nice to have a retractable brush. Didn't use the groove cleaner that much but it was cool to have if you chunked a shot with your wedge but after $30+ dollars I've now just bought a cheapo retractable one from golf galaxy for 6 dollars and it works perfectly. I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON. Hopefully you'll save yourself the aggrevation AND money.

Decent Brush...Could be better

by Guest on March 25, 2010
Pros:
Retractable
Cons:
Brush not stiff enough
Rating:
I bought this because of the retractable housing; which so far works fine. But the brush itself, although it gets the job done, is not stiff enough. I have used the Kmart ($5) brush that has brass bristles on one side and soft on the other. This worked VERY well and despite what an above poster said, the Kmart brush definately cleaned better than the frogger.
I am now going to go to Staples for a retract part and attach it to the Kmart Brush.
