Diamana Blueboard 63 Stiff Shaft - 16 Handicap Golfer

by Dan Lau on November 03, 2009

Pros:

smooth feel, medium high launch, encourages a smooth transition and swing, great dispersion

Cons:

expensive, launch / spin can be too high for some players

Rating:

It's easy to see why this shaft is so desired and commands such a high price.

It is a very stable shaft that was able to handle all of the swings that I threw at it.  However, it reacts best when loaded with a smooth transition and swing.  It has a great smooth feel and you can really feel the shaft flex and kick into the ball, giving you confidence and a feeling of power when you hit.

For performance, it has a mid high to high launch and medium spin.  The launch was optimal for me and the ball still had plenty of run out when it hit the fairway.  The higher launch helped me get maximum distance out of my swing speed.

Don't believe the hype of everyone needing a stiff whiteboard like Tiger hits with an ultra low launch.  The whiteboard is fantastic if you have a ton of swing speed and you put a lot of spin on the ball and need to bring your spin and trajectory down.  However, for the majority of weekend players, myself included, the blueboard is a far better option and the launch conditions and spin will help you get the most distance out of your swing.

It is pretty expensive for a shaft but it is one of the best shafts out there bar none.
